1. The chairs in my apartment have rubber stoppers, but he floors in my room are carpet. I was trying to push my chair out and I fell backwards into the wall and busted open my elbow.
why? The apartment complex I live in is fully furnished. I assume that they bulk ordered all these chairs as they were a good quality, for the price, as well as no one had thought about the carpet-rubber friction it could cause.
2. Weimer Hall courtyard area does not have a water fountain. It was an afternoon class and I was very thirsty but had no water bottle with me.
Why? There is a water fountain across the courtyard in a different area of the building. They do not need two fountains within 100 feet of each other as that has issues with plumbing and other infrastructure. It would seem that as long as you're not lazy and look for it, you could just go to that water fountain instead.
3. The duct tape I was using for the posters in my room only held them up for about two days. They are not larger than 18x18 so it shouldn't have been a problem.
Why? The tape I was using was a no name brand from the dollar store. while I'm sure it would work in other situations it seems that it was just a bad quality tape, and that is why it was so cheap.
4. The to-go cups of syrup do not have little spouts or divots on them to make the syrup flow easier. I was using these on my pancakes and the syrup went out and under the cup getting my hands and counter tops all sticky.
Why? These are cheap and easy to use syrup cups. The molds are the same molds the company has been using for decades because a redesign is too expensive and complicated with all the machinery. It is just expected that the user has common sense and is careful when they pour.
5. Some electrical outlets are way to tight and some are two loose. I struggled to take out my speaker charger when i wanted to move it and almost knocked over my tv, however, my phone charger comes loose every night and does not charge my phone.
Why? Some plugs are simply tighter inside, while most use and have the same specification during manufacturing there can be small inconsistencies which cause these two opposites to occur.
6. The only food that you can get for cheap is usually unhealthy food. I was at the grocery store and a bag of carrots was five dollars while a bag of potato chips was two dollars.
Why? Healthy food does not have as big of a following as the cheap and easy food. It is supply and demand, there is more unhealthy cheap food than healthy because more people want to eat it
7. Although trash bags are usually the right length, they are almost never the correct width. I've always struggled with this, so no exact situation, but how the bag is either too big or two small the fit onto the can.
Why? This happens because there are just so many designs of cans that the bag companies cannot keep up. The bag companies just make the the average size so that it will be able to somewhat fit onto the cans.
8. Walking on campus there is not much shade along the side walks. when there are pavilions or trees, it drastically lowers the temperature and helps with a long walk in the brutal heat. I was walking to class in a white shirt and when I arrived I had a see through shirt.
Why? The process of building or planting shade along every single pathway is a bureaucratic and infrastructure nightmare. It would take forever to get approved and built. Also it would be an unnecessary cost.
9. I am in navy ROTC and the maintenance men fixed something in our classroom and left dirt and dust everywhere. Since they did not clean it the students had to.
Why? They were working all day and were probably in a rush, or were not told to clean it, so it did not cross their minds.
10. My fan either spins too fast and makes it too cold or too slow and way to hot. I have changed the settings yet I cannot find the perfect balance.
Why? Fans are simply motors with some switches. Normal, well priced, fans are not going to have custom setting to find the perfect speed. fans will always be sold even with out being "smart" so they might as well keep them the way they are.
11. The Mentos gum container opens too easily. A mostly full pack opened up in my backpack so i had gum all over my bag, along with whenever I pulled my laptop or binder out gum would spill out.
Why? The container needs to be easy to open, for example you can pop it open with one hand, the product would suffer if it need too hand and a lot of force just for a piece of gum.
12. The on campus Chicfila's have different policies than the off campus ones. No free refills for the on campus ones, and only one out of the four has an ice cream machine, which is the hub and most busy.
Why? The school seems to have a little power over the on campus ones and maybe implements some of their policies to make the restaurants more efficient. the ice cream is at the hub because it is the most busy and can make the most money. along with that, charging free refills will add up over time.
13. A lot of drive ways into parking lots are much higher than the street and can cause issues with the bumper and shocks of the car, My friends was driving his car and scrapes his bumper because of the height difference to one of the on campus parking lots.
Why? There are two reasons, one is that it is just the way it was built, or to prevent flooding. the higher elevation makes sure the water runs of and a parking lot full of cars does not flood damaging them more than a few scrape marks on your bumper.
14. The bookstore quickly runs out of the required books for classes. I had no book for the first week of classes because the bookstore ran out within the first day of class. I had to order online and was behind on my work.
Why? They online have so much space for books, and they need to keep other class books also. They only have so much for one class and then they have to order more once they see how many are taken.
15. The oven mitts I have do not protect me from the heat very well. I was taking my pasta off the stove and burned my hands even tho i had the mitts on.
Why? I was holding it for a long time, the mitts I have may be of less quality compared to the fancier and more protective one.
16. When driving in a one lane road people sometimes drive below the speed limit. I cannot pass them and i was late to morning workout due to someone driving way to slow.
Why? These drivers are trying to be safe and drive slow so that are prepared to stop or have a better reaction time.
17. At Camping World Stadium, there is only one way in and one way out. With this being a sold out game from last week tens of thousands of people all had to enter and exit at the same causing so much walking traffic.
Why? The entrance and exit are like this for security and safety reasons, it is easier to screen and watch who is coming in and out.
18. The law in my city is that unless you are franchise your restaurant cannot be open past 12:00. When me and my friends were out late we could not go anywhere for food besides gas stations.
Why? My city is one of those quiet suburban areas and the city wants to keep it that way by not having the whole world out and about at night.
19. When traffic lights take way too long. University and 13th have the longest lights i have ever seen, and this has made me late on occasion.
Why? this intersection seems to be the busiest intersection in the university area of Gainesville. they need these lights so that the traffic can actually make it through the area.
20. Some buildings around campus do not have carpet at the entrance of the building. It rains quite often here so this can cause the loud squeaky noise and the possibility of slipping and falling.
Why? something like this may not always cross an administrator or janitors mind while prepared and keeping the building's upkeep.
The issue i had with this list was after bug 15. It was hard to notice the things that bugged me after writing so many. I also felt as if i was complaining about everything. and this made me feel uncomfortable.
